Organizers of the Student Film Fest are pleased to announce that the festival will continue this year. As in years past, students in grades 4 through 12 from throughout San Mateo County will be invited to make short videos on the environmental topic of their choice. Past entries have included original music that has been performed and recorded, stop-motion techniques, live action, comedy, collaborations and more. The means of expression is up to the filmmakers.

Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories: elementary school ($100), middle school ($150) and high school ($350). The final entries will be screened and winners will be announced at the Film Fest on March 23. There is no charge to enter. For more information, visit the CEC Student Film Fest page.

The 2021 Film Fest will be cosponsored by the Burlingame Environmental Club (BEC) at Burlingame High School and CEC. BEC will conduct a free filmmaking workshop on January 23 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. – pre-register here. The deadline for entries will be March 1, and the festival will take place on March 23. Entries will be screened and cash prizes will be awarded at the Film Fest; admission is free. Both the workshop and festival will be held virtually.
