2021 CEC Student Film Fest Winners!
We are pleased to announce the winners of the 4th Annual CEC Student Film Fest which took place virtually for the first time on March 23.
Kayla Ling, 7th grader from The Nueva School took top honors for Best Overall Film for her video, “We Have a Climate Crisis – Who’s to Blame?”. Kayla also placed first in the Middle School division.
The other division winners were:
Elaina Newman, 5th grade from Franklin Elementary for “The Climate Cost of Clothing”. and
Jamison Chow, Katie Hong, and Ashley Stewart of San Mateo High School for “Effects of Rising Seas”.
The Burlingame Environmental Club of Burlingame High School (BEC) hosted the film fest which featured San Mateo County Supervisor Dave Pine who spoke of the importance of listening to youth voices as he recognized the filmmakers who chose sea level rise as their topic. Award winning local environmental filmmaker Kristin Tieche congratulated all the emerging filmmakers for their work and involvement as she announced the night’s big winner.
